PEOPLE AND COUNTING HAVE ATTENDED A SEXUALITY CLASS SINCE AUGUST 3, 2007. You'll be in good company.
I've never hosted a sexologist before. How does this work?
no worries, I’ll make this super easy for you so you can focus on fun and learning.
what is the cost?
$40 per person at the door, $30 if paid in advance. The host is free with a group of 10 or more! I also offer discounts for groups of 25+. Travel fees may apply for events outside San Diego, CA.
where are the classes held?
Wherever works for you! Over the past 10 years, people have hosted me in college auditoriums, sorority houses, hotel rooms/suites, meeting rooms, theaters, sex stores, hair salons, yoga studios, libraries, corporate board rooms, and non-profit organizations.
Most commonly, people host the class in their living room with their friends. I’m a low maintenance speaker- if you can provide 4 walls and an audience, I can work with it!
will there be nudity?
No, fortunately or unfortunately, depending on what you were hoping for ;)
These classes are, R rated, not X rated. While the content is obviously sex themed, there will be not be any nudity, live sex demonstrations, or raunchiness. The content is a great balance of educational professionalism and fun adult humor that appeals to wide audiences.
how far in advance do i need to book my class?
I don’t have a set policy; if I have the time slot available, you can grab it, from one day notice to 6 months out.
That said, I’ve found that booking one month in advance works best, as it gives the ideal amount of notice for your guests.
I have a friend who really wants to attend but can’t make it. Can we film the class so she can watch it later?
I welcome you to take all the photos you like, and with the consent of others at your class, you have my permission to post them on social media (tag @sexdocjill and I’ll even share them!)
But filming, live streaming, or audio recording is not permitted. I just doesn’t make me feel comfortable.
Plus, have you ever attended a live comedy show and laughed your ass off the whole time, but then watched a comedy special on HBO and barely let out an audible chuckle in your living room? This is kinda like that. Between the unique inside jokes I cultivate with each individual live audience, to the special and personal stories participants often share, it just doesn’t translate well on film to someone who wasn’t there.
do you have a minimum age requirement?
Yes, everyone must be 18 or over.
But there is no maximum age requirement! Don't be shy to invite your older friends, neighbors, or co-workers. I've had woman aged 18-74 attend my classes, and everyone always has a great time and learns a lot. Sexuality is a life-long experience!
can i invite men?
The classes were written with women/femme folks in mind, but it’s your class and your house, and I welcome you to invite men too if that’s what feels good for you. Sex Ed 101 is an especially great class for co-ed audiences!
Note the feedback I’ve received from past participants is that Female Orgasm 101 is more impactful and allows for greater opportunity to ask questions when it is women only.
i can't decide on a topic. can we do two in one night?
I’m flattered so many of my classes appeal to you! However, I’ve tried doing two in one night before, and learned it just doesn’t work well. Each class is a stand-alone two-hour show with a beginning, middle, and end. Doing two back to back becomes a very long 4+ hour night. Doing half of one and half of another is like watching the first half of Titanic and the second half of the Wizard of Oz- it just doesn’t make sense.
But, you can always book a second class for another night. In fact, I’m confident you will! 91% of local class participants love their first class so much, they host and/or attend a second one. 79% come back for a third!
what is your favorite class to teach?
Female Orgasm 101. It’s the class where the most personal growth happens for participants during the two hours they are in my audience. Folks literally walk out different people than they walked in, and that’s incredibly powerful for me as a sexuality educator. Plus it’s really funny.
Sex Ed 101 is probably my second favorite. There are lots of “a-ha” moments in this class too. And we play a lot of games, so it’s really fun. And there’s pizza. Can’t go wrong with sex ed and pizza.
I love teaching Sex Positions 101 too. It’s doesn’t have as much of the science and research infused in it as some of the other classes do, but participants belly laugh through the whole thing and just have a really fun and empowering time, and I enjoy that.
I love teaching all of them, but these are my three favorite.
I prepaid for my ticket but now I can’t make it. What is your refund policy?
What a shame you're going to miss a hilarious night of sex ed :(
Tickets are non-refundable. If you are concerned that there might be a chance you'll have to change your RSVP, it might be better to purchase your ticket at the door rather than the non-refundable discounted ticket in advance. If you already bought your ticket but now you can't make it (sad times), here are some things you can do with your ticket:
Give it away (to a friend, sister, cousin, co-worker, neighbor- with the host's permission). Giving the gift of sexual empowerment is something they will never forget!
Sell it. Maybe someone else on the host's guest list hasn't bought their ticket yet, and they can buy it from you. Or you can sell it to a friend who is interested in going in your place (again, with the host's permission)
Pay it forward. If you are unable to sell or give away your ticket, I use the funds to do occasional pro bono or deeply discounted sexuality education work in the community, such as sexual assault prevention trainings. Feel good knowing you've supported a worthy cause.
